National Association of Atomic Veterans – Alabama

Welcome!

The National Association of Atomic Veterans (NAAV) was founded in August 1979 by the late Orville E. Kelly of Burlington, Iowa. Its purpose is to provide the U. S. Atomic Veteran community to speak, with a single voice, to their inability to get a fair hearing related to their developing radiogenic health issues that may have been precipitated by their exposure to “ionizing” radiation while participating in a nuclear weapon test detonation, or a “post-test” event.

The Alabama branch of NAAV continues to pursue our dedication to this important cause.

U.S.Army Veteran Orville Kelly, witness to 22 nuclear test blasts, subsequently developed lymphocytic lymphoma. Hear Kelly tell his own story of convincing the Veterans Administration to recognize the connection between his service and his cancer – and to secure disability and survivor benefits for the thousands of other servicemen also affected.
